Megaupload shut down – So why do we need SOPA?
POSTED BY admin // January 19, 2012 // 2 responses
The US Federal government today, acting in concert with police forces in Hong Kong and New Zealand, arrested several executives of Megaupload and shut down their site.
Right or wrong, Megaupoad will have its day in court. Isn’t this the way it is supposed to work? If so, why do we need SOPA and PIPA to protect against rogue illegal sites when we already have a legal process in place to deal with crimes?
The indictment was apparently out for two weeks, and yet the arrests were only made the day after the SOPA/PIPA blackouts. The timing is interesting to say the least.

I find it ironic that some of the Media companies called the blackout a form of cyber bullying and then the day after they take down Megaupload, one of the largest cyberlocker websites on the web.
Considering what they showed what they can do today, I want to make sure they never get any more power through SOPA, PIPA or any other acts they’ll try to draft in the future.
sopa and pipa just wants the piracy thing to close so people will buy more products than others downloading
