Press can help!
It’s understandable that the gaming press and news sites can do little to block coverage of E3. It’s a major source of revenue and if you don’t cover E3, someone else will. But that doesn’t mean you can’t help too.
In every article mentioning E3 prior to the show, or while covering news at E3, simply put a statement similar to this at the bottom of your article:
“E3 is one of the largest video game shows in North America, and is organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). The ESA is a staunch supporter of the SOPA and Protect IP legislations, spending over $190,000 dollars to support the controversial legislation. Groups such as the LFG (League For Gamers) have sprung up to offer an alternative to the ESA and it’s subsidiary, the Video Game Voters’ Network (VGVN).”
This should be neutral enough, and factually based. If you agree that you, the gaming press, can do something about it, please make a pledge here by leaving a comment. Gamers can also add their request to their favorite gaming site by leaving a comment here.

I think reminding people the mere fact that the ESA organizes E3, and the fact they back SOPA and actually spend money backing anti-free speech legislation is important. Thanks for helping spread truth.
I agree Nick. It’s also pretty funny since E3 isn’t really about the gamers anymore. It’s not really open to the public, and it’s just one big pile of BS to try and increase market share generally with a majority of the products being showcased just a bunch of crap being pushed down gamers throats.
E3 hasn’t been about gamers or for gamers for a very long time. What would ESA know or care about the market they peddle to?

I absolutely will be spreading the truth about this. Readership all around goes up during the big press events, and I’m more than happy to help educate people a little on this matter.
IGN, Gamespot, GameStop, GameSpy, Major League Gaming, and all the other ones im forgetting right now, PLEASE put that quote on all E3 coverage you do to help stop this terrible “atrocity” from passing legislation. SOPA and PIPA must b stopped at all costs our very rights are being threatened more and more everyday by these act’s and we need people to stand up for us so we can truly be heard as a whole and show Congress how big and strong we really are and how big of a mistake they are making and force them to stop this non-sense.

It may not be much, but I did participate in a few local gaming leagues. I’ll spread this around to some local gaming watering holes(Indepedent stores, gaming lounges and the like.). I also have some pull over some popular gaming sites, as I will also get some friends to put this up on their XBL gamertag bios.
