Even something as powerful as an avalanche starts with but a few tiny snow flaks.

  5. Jamie Goulding January 17, 2012 at 3:38 pm ·

…flakes. Should not make comments before coffee. However Snow Flak does bring some interesting images to mind.

Anyway, good luck guys! Here is to an excellent beginning!

You guys are real heroes – it’s an honor to take part in your campaign for free speech for the internet and for all of us as gamers and internet citizens. Keep up the good work, everyone!

  15. DustD January 17, 2012 at 4:16 pm ·

I am not american but american’s have to wake up and realize these bills would crush freedom of speech. Furthermore these bills plus the NDAA which past could very well lead to world war 3 but this time it is likely the good old USA would = Nazi Germany!

I’ve met many US WW2 vets and I must say even if this does not ease into WW3, It essentially breaks everything your country has stood for, so stand up against this evil and injustice!

  16. hunterkiller567 January 17, 2012 at 4:31 pm ·

really great idea this shows how big the community is NOW LETS STOP THIS SHIT THE INTERNET IS ARES DOESNT BELONG A BUNCH OVER WEIGHT OVER PAID BASTERD

  17. Germain Zepeda January 17, 2012 at 4:34 pm ·

    Greetings and salutations!

I believe we the people have the power to prevent further atrocities and freedoms from being removed by those in power seeking to oppress and manipulate the citizens of the world.
The quote from Edmund Burke comes to mind:
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
With that said, I proudly stand among League for Gamers; I am honored to be in the presence of those who demonstrate courage and do good on their word(s), in the hopes to stand up against those who would see us without our rights.
    Thank you, for your efforts.

  18. Pete Temple! January 17, 2012 at 4:36 pm ·

I’m here to stand up and make a difference. I’ve been telling my friends about SOPA/PIPA, and I called my representative speaking out against SOPA. Now I’m honored that so many others have a place where we can unify and speak out for our cause. For freedom!

  19. Martholomule January 17, 2012 at 4:37 pm ·

I am happy to do my part for the cause.

  20. Craig January 17, 2012 at 4:44 pm ·

You can count myself and ScrewAttack in on this.

  21. SpringField January 17, 2012 at 4:48 pm ·

I’m glad that me just a low level gamer can help you fight against this evil.

    • admin January 17, 2012 at 4:49 pm ·

Strength in numbers. The fact that SOPA is on the shelf and PIPA is in retreat shows the Internet can make a difference. We hope this will be a defining moment in politics where the Internet finally wakes up and bands together to make our voices heard.

  22. MJP79 January 17, 2012 at 4:50 pm ·

Another gamer cocked and ready to go! Signed the petition and have already previously emailed the ESA and a number of it’s members as suggested by Jim @ Destructoid.

They’ve shelved it for now but like all parasites SOPA won’t die easily and will eventually turn up again in another form and groups like LFG are very much needed for the fight.

So thanks for starting a REAL group for gamers against censorship!

    • admin January 17, 2012 at 4:53 pm ·

Don’t forget PIPA (Protect IP) is very much alive and backed by the ESA! We still need action.

  23. fmeister January 17, 2012 at 5:06 pm ·

We at the Brazilian site Muitosupremo.com.br also support the actions of LFG against SOPA and PIPA.

  24. warstratigier January 17, 2012 at 5:12 pm ·

Consider me ready to take a stand against SOPA/PIPA and against the ESA that continues to back this nonsense. The ESA and the companies that still reside within it are getting nothing from me and that is a conviction I intend to uphold.

  25. Baalversi January 17, 2012 at 5:17 pm ·

I am a 34 year old gamer who is sick and tired of people who have never even played a video game or have any knowledge of the internet making decisions on legislation for this industry.
The fact that these people are trying to force through legislation based on Corperate Pressure to pass laws that are not only are open to abuse but WILL be abused in favor of corperate greed and protectionism.
Time to pick a side boys and girls.

  26. Chris (killatia) Wyche January 17, 2012 at 6:09 pm ·

You most defiantly have my support. Lets end SOPA/PIPA and stop the ESA from continuing supporting these awful bill.

  27. TheNightNinja January 17, 2012 at 6:31 pm ·

Anything that takes a stand against SOPA/PIPA is aces in my book. You have the support of myself and Shogun Gamer (and therefor Canada?). Keep fighting the good fight!

  33. drednoahl January 17, 2012 at 8:26 pm ·

Never since the “video games crash” of the mid eighties have I been so concerned about the state of the games industry. I’ve never felt the need to voice my concerns before, sure that the industry could look after itself.

Publishers hype, support SOPA/PITA, add forms of DRM, insinuate all gamers are pirates, require gamers to agree to an almost zero rights EULA, and then wonder why gamers don’t buy their products.

The games industry crashed in the mid eighties simply because one too many crap games was published; the bond of consumer trust was broken. There are certain publishers I don’t trust anymore and I will never buy another game published by them again.

I know it cuts both ways publishers want to trust gamers too. A reasonable compromise needs to be found between gamer and publisher that doesn’t infringe on my right to privacy or free speech.

  34. Dravis January 17, 2012 at 8:34 pm ·

From Florida with love, LFG! My fellow game makers and I are with you.

  35. ngillikin January 17, 2012 at 8:41 pm ·

Thanks for this platform to stand on guys!

  36. Snowraptor January 17, 2012 at 9:22 pm ·

The Stop the Meter campaign was a success in Canada and the group is still fighting against the telecom companies to bring in a better market for consumers. If this group can manage even half of something comparable I’ll consider it a win.

  37. hadati January 17, 2012 at 10:14 pm ·

Huge thanks to Mr. Kern and Red 5 Studios, along with Reddit, League of Legends, Runic Games, Wikipedia, and Google for standing up to SOPA and PIPA! The way the legislation was written it was like treating someone with cancer with a chainsaw. Not the right approach and would have done more harm than good.

    LFG has my support!

  49. Travera January 18, 2012 at 7:09 am ·

it is funny to think that this is being pushed and funded by the entertainment industry, there have been may times that i know that i have been on youtube and watched a video with a catchy song or really awesome preview and that same day i bought there song or movie. and also with watching congress talk about this bill they dont even know what this bill does, so how can they make a choice like this?

    • admin January 18, 2012 at 7:22 am ·

The ESA is holding on to old models. It’s time to make and distributes games in a new way, by building convenience and features that users want…and giving games away for free.

  50. shardgrave January 18, 2012 at 7:18 am ·

You have another gamer ready to fight the fight. I am against SOPA and PIPA and any future control efforts of censoring the internet.

  56. JayFakename January 18, 2012 at 6:31 pm ·

This bill is ridiculous and for what little it’s worth, gamzrbad.com and myself are in no way going to be involved in any ESA event or the reviewing or even mentioning of any games premiered, showcased or have anything to do with any ESA function.

Here is to hoping that this takes off, this is could become a shot of adrenaline into the gaming industry. Having a voice for all the Indie Programmers, the Players, the People of this culture that is the people is what we need. Mad props to Mark and everyone involved in this venture. This has great potential to grow over the years into a large group with serious weight behind it. You will have my support throughout this.
    Best of luck.

we need you, i have been a pc gamer since pong that has watched the goverment f*ck up everything it touches while being backed by special intrest lobbyist’s that have sold out our country in the name of profit.

im 50 and no im not wearing a tin foil hat yet.

  63. Hakaishin January 24, 2012 at 5:33 pm ·

SOPA/PIPA are disgusting. They turn my stomach and make me want to spew my lunch in the ESA’s and my very own Texas representatives’ faces for having the audacity to trample my very human rights in such a… well, Nazi fashion.

I fought hard to protect the freedoms I now enjoy. I took a bullet to my right leg, a bullet to my right abdomen, and shrapnel in my left arm for those freedoms. I watched as many who I otherwise considered my family and friends, people I’d have happily given my life for, are wounded and killed in the defense of these freedoms.

This is what we come home to…? Really?

This is what we fought, what we continue to fight for?

Their privilege (NOT right… they can be stripped of office quite easily and by our whim) to take away our RIGHTS?

I am disgusted. My wife is disgusted. My child is disgusted. My guild with whom I have led and played with for a decade are disgusted. My unit, these great men and women who fight to suppress tyranny such as this with their lives, are disgusted.

LFG, it is a heavy burden. Continue our fight domestically that we must fight abroad. Keep our home safe from tyranny for us, so we have something worthwhile to return home to.

    Thank you.
